Balancing Actは、アーティスト/プロダクトデザイナーのYuko Minamideがプロデュースするアトリエ＆アートショップ。自身が制作したアートワークやデザインした主に一点限りのコンセプチュアルでユニーク、そしてスタイリッシュなアイテムを展開している。 Yuko Minamideは20代で単身渡英。ロンドンで10年間を過ごす。各国を旅し、建築・デザイン・アートの価値観を広げつつ、環境建築 & インテリアデザイン学科で学士号を取得後、Royal College of Artにてデザインプロダクト科にて修士号を取得。コンセプチュアルな作品はロンドンのデザインミュージアムに展示される。現地ではBarberOsgerby や Adjaye Associatesにおいてデザイナーとしての経験を積む。後者では公共建築のプロジェクトを中心に携わる。帰国後はYUKO MINAMIDE concept.としてインテリアデザインや日本の伝統工芸におけるプロダクト開発＆ブランディングを手掛ける。2021年以降、彼女の中に存在し続けた概念的で直感的なマインドを活かしたデザインとアートワークの製作に活動をシフト。2023年に'Balancing Act' の運営を開始。 Balancing Act, an atelier and online art shop, showcases and sells artwork created by artist / product designer Yuko Minamide, based in Tokyo. Yuko Minamide embarked on a solo journey to the United Kingdom in 1997. For a decade, she immersed herself in the vibrant world of art and architecture in London. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Architecture and Interior Design, she pursued a master’s degree in Design Products at Royal College of Art. Her conceptual work during this period was exhibited at the renowned Design Museum in London. During her studies, Minamide worked at Barber Osgerby. After graduating, she joined Adjaye Associates, where she contributed to several public architecture projects. Upon her return to Japan, she worked as an interior designer for a while before embarking on a new journey in 2012. Minamide’s passion led her to collaborate with Japanese traditional craftsmen and artisans, developing products that harmonise the timeless craftsmanship with contemporary design. This unique approach creates a new dimension of traditional craftsmanship, complemented by branding that showcases her artistic vision. Balancing Act, a brand / project initiated in 2023, aims to focus on creating designs and artworks that showcase her diverse experiences and the free expression of her sensitivities. It also highlights her conceptual and intuitive mind, which has always been a part of her.
